Privacy Policy

PressOrBuild is a publication, not a platform. We are not trying to build a profile of you, and the less data we hold the less there is to worry about. This page describes what we actually collect rather than what a template says we might.

What we collect

Two things. The first is your email address, if — and only if — you give it to us by subscribing to our updates. We use it to send those updates and nothing else. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, unsubscribing takes effect immediately, and we remove the address rather than parking it on a suppression list.

The second is basic, aggregated analytics: which pages get read, roughly where in the world visitors are, which site sent them here, and whether they are on a phone or a desktop. We look at that to decide what to write next. It is not tied to a name, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.

We do not ask for your name, your address, your phone number or your payment details, and there is nowhere on this site to enter them.

We do not sell your data

Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to the vendors we write about. Your email address is never rented, traded or handed to a partner. The only third parties that touch any of it are the service providers who deliver our emails and process our analytics on our behalf, and they are bound to use it only for that purpose.

Cookies

We keep these to the minimum needed to run the site and understand our traffic. We do not run advertising cookies or third-party ad networks. If you follow one of our outbound partner links, the destination site may set its own cookies to record that the visit came from us — that is how the arrangement below works, and it is governed by that company's privacy policy rather than ours. Your browser settings can block or clear cookies at any time; nothing on this site breaks if you do.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links to hosts, page builders and website platforms earn us a commission if you buy. That is how the site is funded, it costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we recommend. The mechanics — including which side of the argument each partner sits on — are set out in full in our affiliate disclosure.

Your data, and how to get rid of it

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email [email protected] and we will act on it — usually within a few working days, and in every case within the month that data protection law allows. You do not need to explain why, and asking will not get you removed from anything you did not ask to be removed from.

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will say so on this page rather than updating it quietly.
